HELLBOY by Declan Shalvey

Here's my Hellboy for this week. Cheers to Patrick for picking him; been meaning to do a decent Hellboy pick for a long time, so used this as an excuse to do it. Definitely the most work i've put in for a Twart. Given the subject matter of Hellboy i just HAD to show him in Ireland.

Fun fact, back in Ireland, my home is an hour between a castle (that i used to work in) and the above ruins of Quin Abbey. Got a little homesick doing this. Last time i drew that Abbey i think i was fourteen. Good times.

Hope ye like.

Pencils over on my blog.

best,
Mike

PS - Yes, I do know what Hellboy is supposed to look like.

HELLBOY by Dan McDaid

A (very) belated Hellboy. Am I the worst TWARTer in the world, or what? Anyway, this is a snippet from something I'm working on just for sh*ts and giggles - a one-page strip called "How the West Was Doomed!"

More TWARTing soon - I hope!

HELLBOY by Ron Salas

I'll take any chance to draw Hellboy. However, as many on twitter know, I have problems drawing his legs. I've drawn Hellboy a dozen times and I think I've always resorted to hiding his legs behind either smoke or rubble. Anyway, I hope this time I'm successful drawing at least part of his legs.

I'm such a huge fan of Mignola that I want it to look "right".

This is a scene from the story "The Third Wish", one of my favourite tales.

Edit: As a bonus, here's a Hellboy marker sketch I did a couple of years ago.

HELLBOY by Chris Samnee

Lots going on this week (work-wise) so I didn't have time to anything more than this quickie. Hellboy is one of my favorite characters and favorite books though, so I didn't want to miss out on the fun. Thanks Patrick for a great pick!

To celebrate today's release of Hellboy in Mexico, I decided to go "Mexican" for this piece :)
I have been a fan of Mike Mignola's Big Red since its creation and I have been running a special HELLBOY week on my blog, so if you haven't dne it yet, and if you love Hellboy, I suggest to go check it out :)

Thanks to Patrick for the awesome twart subject pick :)

Cheers,
Francesco

The THING by Mr. Hawthorne

I didn't finish my THING either. Here's my place holder, an older piece from my blog, till I get it finished.

Edit - I inked Ramon's THING sketch as my entry for that subject. Hope he doesn't mind.

Best,
Mike

The Thing, by Ramón Pérez

it looks like nathan and i were thinking along the same lines...

when i think of the Thing the first thing that pops into mind were the days when he would don his extra large overcoat and stingy brim fedora.

while my piece isn't done yet, i thought i'd share the doodle on a napkin that initiated it... a place holder till the final is done...

the other temptation was to go another more peculiar route. the thing is one of my all time favourite characters (which is funny though, cause i've never liked the fantastic four), however my first exposure to him wasn't through comics but the cartoon show from the late 70s and early 80s...

The Thing by Nathan Fairbairn

Sad Ben Grimm walking in Central Park on a cold winter night, feeling sorry for himself. This was supposed to be just a rough value study for a finished digital painting, but somehow it's Sunday night again and this is as far as it's gotten. So whatever. Now it's a finished piece, I guess. I think I prefer it rough like this anyway.

With respect to Mr. Alex Toth, from whose model sheets I have taken the design and pose of our ever-lovin' blue-eyed hero.

THE THING by Steve Bryant

Excuse me while I whip out my Thing...

I wanted to do something with the Yancy Street Gang, but Mr. Kuhn already rocked that one, so I opted to humiliate the Mole Man instead.

If I can self-promote for a second, please check out the Kickstarter campaign to fund my book, Athena Voltaire.

Ooops! I just read what next week's Twart is--one of my all-time favorite characters! Gotta get to work!

(One of the nice things about Twarting near the end of the week? Being able to add in all of the crazy tags that already exist.)
