THE ROCKETEER by Steve Bryant
Aside from my own creations, the Rocketeer is one of my favorite characters to draw. So it probably came as no surprise to anyone who knows me that I'd choose good ol' Cliff Secord as my pick for Comic Twarting this week. My work certainly owes a considerable debt to Dave Stevens, and this piece is my own clumsy way of acknowledging that debt.
I'm humbled to be a part of this group, and excited to draw with these guys...
(My pencils for this piece are over at my blog.)

Awesome! I wanted so bad to have Betty in my piece. I started to have her leaning out of one of the windows, but it didn't work.
Yours is great!

Love this take on the Racketeer. I mean the Rocketeer.
Love, Love, LOVE this piece. You really jet-packed this one outta the park. Fantastic job!
great work, steve.
i see why you chose cliff secord.
Using the Rockateer as an excuse to draw Betty Page. I see what you did there;)
Thanks for the kind words, guys. After my weak Zorro drawing last week, I felt super ambitious and thought I'd draw two Rockateer pics: a shot of Betty leaning on the helmet with Cliff, Peavy and Butch the bulldog in frame, and a flying shot of Cliff in his gear.
Time got the better of me, so I folded the ideas into one image.
Nicely designed piece. The lines in the sky are a great idea. A tip o' the hat to you sir.
Great stuff!
Love the brush-work - super smooth!
When in doubt...more cleavage!
Looks great, Steve. Fantastic inks. The overall design is great, especially with the rocket pack and helmet sitting there at the side.
Your best Rocketeer illo to date!
Cheers,
Francesco
This is really amazing. Love the combo platter you put together here. The Rocketeer is one of my favorite characters to look at, so this is working out nicely for the both of us.
Thanks again, guys. I'm really flattered by the kind words.
She's winking at me! at me! SWOOON.
Killer composition, Steve and a big thanks for picking an awesome subject!
Beautiful pic, Steve!
I really like your decision to make Betty the central figure of your piece.
I must've tried sketching her a dozen times before I gave up and went in a different direction.
You pulled this off with gusto.
Great job, Steve.
And now I am the proud owner of this original piece...yowza! Thanks, Steve!
